Looking for a rental?
March 19th, 2007If you are reading this, you already know to start your search on the web. But not all landlords are web savy so don’t limit yourself to this. Read the weekend editions of the local newspapers. Also drive around looking for “for rent” signs and ask everyone you know and come into contact with if they know of a nice house or apartment for rent. Ask the grocery clerk, your hair dresser as well as family and co-workers. Some of the best places for rent are not advertised. Many property management companies are not open on weekends! So check ahead before making a special trip to an area. Many of the large apartment communites do have someone available to show on weekends.
If at all possible do not rent something sight unseen, especially if you need to sign a lease. Have a friend, co-worker look at it for you if you are unable to see it in advance. Not only can photos be misleading, they do not show the neighborhood.
